| A few miles away is the highly-popular Carnforth Railway Station and Exhibition Centre which features, among other things, the famous clock from the film “Brief Encounter” – you can watch the film for free in the centre. 8 miles away is the historic city of Lancaster with its attractive shopping centre, 12th century Castle and the Priory and Parish Church of St Mary, founded in 1094. 7 miles away is the seaside town of Morecambe with its magnificent views of the Lake District. While there “say hello” to Eric Morecambe, whose memorial statue brightens up the magnificent promenade with its popular Stone Jetty. 30 minutes to the north is the beautiful Lake District National Park and just to the east are the famous Yorkshire Dales. About 15 minutes or so drive away are the tourist attractions, quaint shops and facilities of the historic towns of Kendal and Kirkby Lonsdale.
