Places To Visit: Arnside and Silverdale

Blog

Set along the stunning Morecambe Bay, the Arnside and Silverdale area is a perfect location to spend time. It’s ideal for those that love the outdoors and offers everything from culture and heritage to walks in the Great Outdoors.

Our blog this month at McCarthy Caravan Parks looks into places to visit around the Arnside and Silverdale area, providing some ideas for days out with friends or family.

History of Arnside and Silverdale

Designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), Arnside and Silverdale sits between North Lancashire and South Cumbria. It only covers 29 square miles in total, making it one of the smallest AONBs in the country. This area was first designated in 1972, however the history here dates back much further.

Even though the area doesn’t mention them it also includes the small villages of Beetham, Warton, Storth and Yealand Redmayne. People have been living here for thousands of years, with some structures dating back as far as the 1200s.

Places to Visit

No matter what you are interested in, there are so many places to visit. For those who enjoy culture and the outdoors, Eaves Wood should be high up on your list. The Ancient Woodland is part of the National Trust and at the summit you’ll find the ancient Pepperpot which overlooks Silverdale and the areas below.

Another area of the outdoors to explore is Warton Crag. With an area of 35 hectares in total, there are plenty of areas to enjoy. Alongside this, dogs are also welcome as long as they are kept under control at all times. If you enjoy stately homes, then Levens Hall is nearby which features a home, gardens as well as a kitchen for food and drinks.
