Williamsons Park is in Lancaster just a short 7 mile drive away from our holiday homes in Carnforth. The iconic memorial is on 54 acres of stunning landscaped park land. You can enjoy enchanted woodland walks or perhaps visit the Butterfly House. A great day out for families, couples and individuals.

Park Attractions

  • Ashton Memorial: This grand Edwardian building is the centrepiece of the park, and offers panoramic views of the surrounding area from its terrace. It was built by James Williamson, 1st Baron Ashton, as a tribute to his wife, and now is home to the Lancaster City Museum.
  • Butterfly House: The Butterfly House is a tropical greenhouse that is home to a wide variety of butterflies.
  • The park also has a pond, which is home to a variety of water birds, and a variety of walking paths, gardens, and picnic areas.
  • Highest Point Festival

The park is open all year round and offers free entry, making it a popular spot for locals and visitors alike, who come to enjoy the natural beauty of the park, the views, the events and activities that take place all year round.
